August is the perfect time to enjoy your garden. You can be outside for a long time and admire the flowering plants with their beautiful colours from the comfort of your lazy chair. Many summer flowering shrubs are now at their peak and some get a little past that during this month. But this is certainly not the case with the panicle hydrangea, or Hydrangea paniculata. Fun facts about Hydrangea paniculata

The most special thing about the panicle hydrangea is that its cone-shaped flowers change colour as summer progresses. At the beginning of flowering period, they are white or light green. As they get older, the flowers change spectacularly to green, pink or even fiery red, depending on the variety. Did you know that the flowers of the panicle hydrangea bloom on new wood? So prune it early in spring for an abundant flowering later in the season. Another fact: Hydrangea paniculata is the only species you can prune into a tree shape.
