Fun facts about Hydrangea paniculata

The most special thing about the panicle hydrangea is that its cone-shaped flowers change colour as summer progresses. At the beginning of flowering period, they are white or light green. As they get older, the flowers change spectacularly to green, pink or even fiery red, depending on the variety. Did you know that the flowers of the panicle hydrangea bloom on new wood? So prune it early in spring for an abundant flowering later in the season. Another fact: Hydrangea paniculata is the only species you can prune into a tree shape.
